Convos with my 2 yr old- the Kate Reinder episode

Convos with my 2 year old is where a guy transcribes funny/random conversations with his daughter (who is now 3, but whatevs), and then re-enacts them, with a friend of his playing the part of his daughter.

I found it last year and loved it, because I love funny things little kids do/say, and the re-enactments make it funnier and more random.

I was watching the latest episode, and I caught the name Kate Reinders in the credits, and I was like- 'wait, that name is familiar. I think she was in Wicked.' (The majority of US theatre people I know of have been in Wicked).

A quick Google search to confirm, and here we are. Here is the video for those who want to see it! Check out the series! It's pretty awesome.

My favourite comedians

As I write this, I'm watching a comedy special on TV, which I love because it's always a good show. Plus, every time I watch stand up comedians, I always learn stuff. Whilst laughing. Which is a great way to learn stuff.

So, I thought I'd quickly throw this post together (because it's been a while since I posted anything. My life has been very boring lately). Hence, a list of my favourite comedians:

Adam Hills: I really love Adam Hills. He's really funny, and he doesn't swear too much and his stand up shows always have these really beautiful messages to them. Inflate people, Touch the Frog, etc (yes, I really those messages make no sense out of context, but trust me. They're deep and meaningful). Plus, he is quite happy to mock the fact that he has an artificial right foot; and really, if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?

Rove McManus: Again with Rove, he is mostly clean, and funny, and happy to mock his flaws (in this case, his height- or lack thereof). But he (and Adam) just seem like such nice guys.

Frank Woodley: Frank Woodley is hilarious. The End. I can't say more than that, he is just so funny.

Cal Wilson: Cal is hilarious. I always love watching her, and I've had a few conversations with her on Twitter, so that's cool.

Arj Barker: I love Arj. He's very dry and sarcastic, and that appeals to me.

The Axis of Awesome: I do enjoy musical comedy groups. I first saw the Axis of Awesome when they came to my uni in 2010. I loved their show so much I went to look at getting one of their albums, and the minute I saw a track labelled "Harry Potter and the Drunk Teenage Animals Escaping From Zoos" I was sold. Plus, the 4 Chords song is awesome.

Sammy J: Another musical comedy act. His humour and songs are very dry, but I love that. Some of his stuff isn't my type, but I do enjoy most of it.

Josh Thomas: I go back and forth on Josh Thomas, but I have one of his albums and one of his DVDs, so... plus, he's a Harry Potter fan, so he gets points for that.

Michael McIntyre: I haven't seen that much of Michael McIntyre, but he has this one bit on a "man drawer" which I still find hilarious no matter how much I watch it. So he's on the list.

Dave Thorton: I came to really know Dave Thorton through his radio show, and I really grew to love him.

Wil Anderson: Wil swears a bit too much at times for me to love him, but I do enjoy watching him.

Hamish and Andy: Ok, so Hamish and Andy don't do stand up (which is why they're not higher on the list) but they do so much comedy through their radio show and TV, and they are such nice guys. I adore them.

Top 5 Fictional Characters I wouldn't say "No" to marrying:
  1. Fiyero- Wicked
  2. Gilbert Blythe- Anne of Green Gables
  3. Harry Potter- Harry Potter
  4. Ted Mosby- How I met your mother
  5. Leonard Hofstadter- Big Bang Theory (I think he's adorable, haha).

Who are your top 5?

Follow up to my random conversation

Me: So, how was your seminar yesterday?
Student: Oh, it was really good. You missed a lot.
Me: Damn. Maybe the next one.
Student: Yeah, I heard rumours that the next one's going to be in Hawaii.
Me: Nice. *thinking* I've got to stop doing this.

A Random Conversation:

I found myself in a very random conversation today.

Me: See you tomorrow, guys.
Student: We will?
Me: Uh, yeah
Student: So, you're going to the "Take Over the World" Seminar tomorrow too?
Me: Uh, actually, I think I'm going to miss this one. I gave it a lot of thought and realised taking over the world is really low on my list of priorities, so I thought I'd do something more productive with my time.
Student: That makes sense. I admire that, Miss.
Me: Thanks. Plus, I'm waiting for when they hold it somewhere really cool, like New York or something.
Student: Yeah, Belgium isn't that great.
Me: *thinking* how the hell did I get into this conversation?!

Because I can't stop watching this...

So, I have no idea why I can't stop watching this.

It could have something to do with the cute guys, or it could be just that it looks like to do something like that would have been fun, and that they just seem like nice guys who don't mind being completely random on car trips.

Or that there's the one guy who slept through the whole thing.

So, naturally, I have to share immediately, haha.

LOL

Most of the time, I don't have the same sense of humour as everybody else.

I find things funny that no one else does; and things that people find hilarious I don't get (like Napoleon Dynamite, and numerous YouTube clips that have swept the world in a craze- Charlie the unicorn, anyone?).

So, that's why it's strange for me as a writer when people say how funny they find certain parts, lines, characters, etc. because I've never thought of myself as a funny person. Sometimes a line or moment will pop into my head and make me laugh, so it goes it, but I never think other people will laugh too.

I think it's also me as a literature/history buff that helps with this. If there's a joke about a book or historical person/event that I know of, I feel happy that I get the joke.

My brother still doesn't why I gasped and said "that's so mean!" the first time I saw the "Bag of Weed" song on Family Guy and they made the reference to Helen Keller.

So, for the last few days, I've been shoving this TMZ video in everyone's faces, because I find it hilarious. I like TMZ- they have funny voice overs. What I find so funny about this (besides the irony) is the voice over, and the reactions of everyone in the office.

People may disagree. My brother just stared at me blankly and said "that's not funny."
